Spring wedding at the beautiful Abbey House Gardens, Malmesbury, Wiltshire

I met Natalie and Mark at a Love to Plan wedding fayre last year where they were entered into a competition and won a free pre-wedding shoot with me.  On the day of our pre-wedding shoot they were at great pains to tell me how unphotogenic they both were - something which I actually hear quite a lot from prospective Bride & Grooms.

Of course this turned out not to be the case and happily after viewing their shoot they booked me to photograph their wedding.  For most people, their wedding is their first experience with a professional photographer.  Despite the plethora of "great cameras" everywhere these days, its often not until people experience being photographed correctly can they truly appreciate how good they can look in print.  Of course the skill lies with the art of photography rather than the camera (although a good camera is a great help in darkly lit churches and venues!). I always feel it is such a shame when couples decide against a professional wedding photographer as they believe they don't photograph well - sadly if this job is left to an untrained eye then the imagery they get on their wedding day is likely to re-enforce this view.

Natalie and Mark were married in May this year on what turned out to be a rather blustery day, but we were lucky that the day stayed dry as it looked like we might have been in for a downpour!  Natalie looked beautiful in her lace-trimmed dress which showed off her very slim figure amazingly.  The Abbey House Gardens is a lovely wedding venue, the wisteria was in full bloom and it was a pleasure to share their day with them.  This was such an elegant wedding to photograph incorporating sage green and white colour scheme, and lots of fun too with its pretty vintage styled details and amusing wedding speeches.  I hope you enjoy the photos of this photogenic couple!

Summer family lifestyle shoot at Stanton Park

Last summer I had a lovely time photographing Emma and her two children Connie and Zach.  It was during those lovely warm summer days we had and we headed over to Stanton Fitzwarren and the lovely park area and lake for our shoot. With a great variety of backdrops around this location it made it  perfect for getting some lovely natural images of the children.

Now spring is here its a lovely time of year to think about a lifestyle shoot for your family.  I am currently taking bookings for weekday and weekend shoots.  With the bluebell season approaching followed by the Summer and Autumn months why not give me a call to discuss planning a shoot?  Together we can discuss locations, outfits and season to create the best portraits of your family and which of my gorgeous products are going to look to amazing when presenting these images to hang in your home.

Friday Foto - Why I love this image

It's Friday Foto on Valentine's Day - and if you are one of the many couples getting engaged today huge congratulations to you!

In celebration of February 14th and all things romantic I have chosen a special image  from a lovely pre-wedding shoot which conveys that intimacy and togetherness of a couple newly engaged.

The success of the image is all about the golden triangle - light, emotional connection and composition.  Like so many couples I meet, Mark and Natalie weren't keen on being photographed and thought themselves not to be particularly photogenic. I'm glad to say this shoot changed their minds and I can't wait to shoot their wedding later this year!

If your planning your wedding or just engaged and already thinking about your photography as an important part of your day do get in touch here as I'd love to discuss more about my wedding services with you.  All packages come with a complimentary engagement session and a printed 8x6" photograph.  More information about my packages and further examples of work can be viewed online.

Newborn Photography in Swindon - introducing baby Aman

I was delighted to meet Aman when he was just 7 days old.  Previously I had done a maternity shoot with Mum Sheena (which can be viewed here) and it wasn't long after that Aman announced his arrival. Newborn photography requires a lot of patience to get them settled and sleeping but Aman was very easy to work with.  As you can see, he's a bit of a cutie and I enjoyed a little baby cuddle after the shoot.  Newborns change so much during the first weeks of their life, let alone the first year, that it really is great to capture this precious time before if disappears in a blur of sleepless nights!

Newborn shoots are best done when they are 7-10 days old if you want to get those lovely peaceful sleeping shots and ideally booked while you are still pregnant (after your 20 week scan is perfect) so time can be blocked out to ensure availability as they rarely arrive of their due date!  As your baby gets older the sleeping poses can be more difficult to achieve but baby sessions can be held at any time to capture those magic moments of your new child during their first year.  For more information on my baby sessions see details on my website.
